OLFACTIVE FAMILY: Aromatic Leathery
A rich aromatic leathery composition, LE 12 VICTOR HUGO is built around the duality between smoky Lavender and the warmth of Tonka Bean. Fresh Bergamot brings a luminous opening, while Lavender Essence and Tuberose Absolute introduce a soft yet textured heart. The presence of Birch Tar adds a subtle smoky, leathered depth, evoking the grain of materials and the imprint of artisanal gestures.
In the drydown, Tonka Bean CO2 and Benzoin Resinoid create a warm, enveloping trail, enriched by Ambroxan and Symphonide for a modern, skin-like sensuality. The result is a fragrance that is at once structured and fluid—woody, aromatic, and delicately leathery.
“The composition was built around a smoky Lavender, enriched with a generous Tonka Bean signature. I wanted to contrast the aromatic freshness of Lavender with something warmer, deeper, almost enveloping. This dialogue creates a fragrance that is both elegant and textured, with a strong yet intimate presence,” says Jean-Christophe Hérault.

LE 12 VICTOR HUGO, a new creation in the Fath’s Essentials Collection by IFF Master Perfumer Jean-Christophe Hérault, celebrates the opening of the Maison’s first boutique at 12 Avenue Victor Hugo, in the 16th arrondissement of Paris.
Conceived as a tribute to this emblematic address, the fragrance captures more than a place—it expresses an atmosphere. One shaped by light, texture, and the elegance of a Parisian interior, where heritage is not preserved behind glass, but lived, shared, and continuously reimagined.
Inspired by the boutique itself, Creative Director Rania Naim envisioned a composition structured around materiality and contrast. The scent reflects the tactile dialogue between raw elements and refined finishes, echoing the harmony of craftsmanship and modernity that defines the space. She invited Jean-Christophe Hérault to translate this vision into an olfactory signature—one that feels both structured and sensual.
“With this fragrance, I wanted to capture the very essence of Le 12 Victor Hugo: a quintessentially Parisian address, where timeless elegance meets the artisanal craftsmanship that is particularly close to my heart,” Rania explains. “Lavender was the obvious choice—it embodies finesse, authenticity, and that artisanal sensibility I wanted to express. It was from this initial intuition that the creation was born, enhanced by Jean-Christophe’s expertise, who has succeeded in revealing a Lavender that is both chic and sensual.”
