For this new olfactory collaboration with Jean-Christophe Hérault, La Maison Jacques Fath sought to create an alluring Musk fragrance as a tribute to Jacques Fath’s haute couture.
In this spirit of high perfumery, Jean-Christophe Hérault enriched his musky composition with rare and precious ingredients: Iris Concrete LMR with powdery nuances, CO2-extracted Vanilla that is both sensual and enveloping, and Vetiver Wood. As a nod to the world of textiles, he also crafted a “Clean Linen” Accord, bringing brightness and diffusion to the scent.
In a bold gesture, as a counterpoint to this couture-inspired creation, Creative Director Rania Naim wished to introduce an unexpected touch: an accord of Dried Red Bananas and Cherry. Red Bananas, sweeter and with Raspberry-like facets, add a unique gourmand nuance. Jean-Christophe Hérault has thus sculpted a liqueur-like, addictive, and audacious opening, unveiling a surprising and irresistible facet from the very first notes of the fragrance.

Jacques Fath, a self-taught visionary, redefined fashion in the late 1930s. At first, he began with a modest two-room Parisian salon. Then it was in the 1940s when Fath established his legendary atelier at 39 Avenue Pierre-Ier-de-Serbie. His artistry not only shaped the golden age of couture but also mentored future icons like Hubert de Givenchy, Guy Laroche, and Valentino Garavani.
MUSC COUTURE translates the sophistication of Fath’s glamorous gowns, intricate pleats, and flowing silhouettes into an olfactory experience. Inspired by the precision and craftsmanship of couture design, Creative Director Rania Naim challenged perfumer Jean-Christophe Hérault to create a fragrance that evokes the essence of fabric coming to life under the scissors. The sensual flow, the refined textures, and the transformative artistry it represents.
Central to the composition is a Musk Accord, embodying the smoothness and sensuality of fabric against the skin. Then, this radiant note is layered with slightly animalic and enveloping facets, echoing the dynamism and movement of Fath’s creations and designs. Both bold and graceful, MUSC COUTURE is a sensory tribute to the irresistible allure of haute couture, reimagined for the modern era.

To create Musc Couture, Jean-Christophe Hérault worked with Ambrette Seed Extract, a natural source of Ambrettolide, a plant-based musk. Since natural musk extracted from the musk deer is no longer possible due to its protected status, plant-based and other alternatives are used in perfumery today. He also incorporated Ambertonic™, an IFF captive musk molecule, designed to recall the powdery musks of the past—once known as nitro musks, now forbidden for regulatory reasons.
Together, these two accords give the fragrance remarkable longevity and conjure the nostalgic aura of tonkin musk from a past era.
