A Floral Woody fragrance. A fragrance with a silky effect, illustrating both feminity and sensuality.
“Red Shoes” is the name of a 1948 ballet movie for which Jacques Fath designed the fabulous costumes of prima ballerina, Moira Schearer. In 1950, Fath designed a sumptuous red silky dress with the same name, worn by model Bettina. This incredible dress inspired the perfumer to create a fragrance with a sparkling opening with a fresh sensation. The Blue Ginger and Pink Pepper evoke the cold and metallic colors of the silky and satiny dress. The flamboyant Rose Damascena Absolute highlights the opulence of masterful Patchouli, both spreading a very strong sillage.
The fragrance begins with vibrant Blackcurrant, Red Berries, and Grapefruit, offering a fresh and fruity introduction. Aldehydes add a sparkling quality to this opening. As it develops, the heart features Rose Damascene Absolute, providing a lush floral character, complemented by the green notes of Geranium. The warmth of Ginger adds a subtle spice, while Pink Pepper introduces a lively touch. In the base, Patchouli lends an earthy richness, enhanced by the creamy texture of Cashmere Wood.

“For Red Shoes I was inspired by the famous Jacques Fath’s evening dress. This red silk dress fitted Bettina’s curves perfectly and its bustier was theatrically highlighted with a royal blue stole tied around her waist.
I wanted this fragrance to illustrate this intense femininity and sensuality, this satin and silky sensation. Red Shoes is a cocktail dress, a red-carpet gown so, in order to produce this wow effect, it had to be classy, elegant, and opulent to leave a trail, a powerful sillage; a projection. With this “olfactive dress” on, you simply cannot go unnoticed–the fragrance is subtle and elegant at the same time.
To me, these colors have correspondences in terms of raw materials and sensations: the royal blue is a cold color and makes me picture Aldehyde, something very metallic, deep, vaporous, and diffusive. I also used a cold spice in the composition, a blue Ginger CO2 extract which is very close to the fresh Ginger smell.
In my mind, red represents Patchouli and Rose. The deep red color of the dress, which inspired the color of the fragrance, evokes for me a rich, opulent Rose and a superb Patchouli. Together, they promise a powerful sillage.”
